If you can walk, you can dance.
If you can talk, you can sing.
If you can write, you can draw.
We all carry artistic potential. If you can envision, you can create. Everyone in my family was encouraged to draw, sing, and play music. When I was one year old, my parents placed paper in front of me, showed me how to make a mark and handed me the pencil. At my first wild hairline, they expressed praise and joy. In our household, this was a rite of passage.
A few years later, my mom would sit for us for an hour or more so that we could draw her portrait. One of those times, my brother, who wasn’t as patient with those sessions, went off to a room that had a large mirror. A while later, he came out with a stunning self- portrait, finely done, with precise shading. There wasn’t one thought in his mind that he couldn’t do it.
Consistent encouragement is fuel for creativity. Never say to anyone “Don’t quit your day job.” The fact is, anything’s possible.
Most important? Just have FUN with it!
