| Erin's paintings are whimsical and full of color because that is how she sees the world in her mind's eye.She has been told by folks who have viewed her paintings that they "inspire smiles and uplift the heart" and "they would bring light and sunshine into any room". Her love for nature and her appreciation for life is what drives her. She grew up in rural New England, where she spent the majority of her early years climbing trees, gathering wildflowers, roaming the hillsides, exploring streams and watching the sky. Her experiences in life played a major role in her education where she earned a B.S. in Wildlife Biology from the University of Rhode Island in 1999 and a M.S. in Natural Resource Management from the University of Connecticut in 2002. She now teaches Chemistry from an environmental prospective at Littleton High School. Over the years, she has dabbled in many art mediums and undoubtedly she will continue to search out and experience many more. Her hobbies include writing, music, yoga, dance and nature craft but painting has always been her favorite mode of expression. When Erin accepts a commission, she asks her patrons to provide her with colors, words, feelings and images that remind them of that person or subject. She then focuses on this imput and paints whatever comes into her mind. If the subject is a pet, she asks about character and perhaps an unusual behavior that might help her to capture the essence of her subject. Erin feels she does her best work while outside enjoying the sunshine and listening to songs of nearby birds or inside by candlelight while playing loud music. She and her husband, Adam, have decided to make their home in Lisbon, surrounding themselves with all that this glorious piece of earth offers. Erin's work is now available locally at the ArtWorks in Littleton as well as our gallery. You can also find Erin's work through her web site and at local shows |
