| Linda Novak grew up in the small town of Wendell Depot, MA where she began drawing at the age of five. She has received no formal art education but "feels" her subjects through self teaching. Linda's unique hand drawn blank note cards are individual works of art which are easily matched to one's moods and well suited for framing. The softness and flowing lines of her colored pencil work allows you to feel the appreciation that she has for the world around her. She is equally comfortable working with pen and ink for botanical studies although she chooses to use acrylics and watercolors for larger works. Ms. Novak earned an Associate's Degree, majoring in Animal Sciences with a minor in Plant Sciences, in 1977, from the University of New Hampshire. She feels these studies and accomplishments have given her the proper perspective to accurately portray her subjects. She takes her art very seriously and has even been known to leave her packed lunch on the counter when heading out to draw. She has never left her pencils or sketch pad behind, however. She enjoys reading and gardening but hiking and sketching are her real passions. There is another interesting twist in Linda's life. She spent two years on a 36,000 acre cattle ranch in New Mexico. The next time you see her, don't forget to ask about the stampede. During the warmer months, Linda displays at open air Farmer's markets and art shows locally but you can view her work year round at the ArtWorks in Littleton. Linda's talents have even reached out to the White Plains, NY Garden Club who commissioned her to produce note cards to celebrate their 80th anniversary. |
